Searching for information on the SMITH family, who originally came from Iowa
to Sonoma Co. in 1852 and then to Orange Co. in 1892.
Patriarch of the family was William A. Smith who died (place unknown) Apr.
10, 1894. His wife was Rebecca Clark Smith. They had sons, John Allen S.,
Thomas S., James F. S. and Wilbur S
A daughter, Rosetta S. married William LIGHT and settled somewhere in
southern CA, maybe LA.
Other son, Commodore Perry Smith never left Sonoma.
Son James F. Smith and wife Victoria Powers Smith and some of their
children came to Orange Co in 1892. Were farmers in Tustin.
Their children were:
Alice May Smith who married Delbert HILTON, also farmed in Tustin
William Perry S., who married Margaret LIGHT
Orie Smith, who married Rose WILSON and moved to Oakland after turn of
the century.
Is anyone else researching any of these family lines? I am especially
interested in finding if William A. Smith died in Orange Co., Apr. 10, 1894.
Also would like an obituary for Victoria Powers SMITH, who died in Tustin,
Aug. 8, 1919.
Other Smith researchers out there?
Lorraine
