Mr. Mapu, 28, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Dec. 2, 2001, in Denver, Colorado of cancer. He served in the Army for 9 1/2 years as sergeant.

Mr. Mapu was born Nov. 3, 1973, in Orange County, Calif., to Ioane and Aveia Mapu. He was married Feb. 12, 1998 to Latisha Christina Robertson.

His is survived by wife; a daughter, Moana; a stepson, Tres; his parentsl two brother, Abraham and Steven; and three sisters, Joyce Ulimasao, Easter Mapu and Fea Mapu.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Funeral Home "Chapel" of Peace, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO. 719-475-8303. burial, with full military honors, will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave., Colorado Springs, CO.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sgt. Mapu Memorial Fund in care of Security Service Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 13009, Fort Carson, CO 80913.
