Hello Phil,

I live in California and don't like looking for obituaries it can be very time consuming and parking fees can make it expensive. The state of California does not require funeral announcements or obituaries to be published. So you have a 50/50 chance an announcement was published and an even smaller percentage that there was a paid obituary.

I assume you have a copy of the death certificate. Listed on the death certificate will be the funeral director. The funeral director will be able to tell you if and which paper an obituary was published.

For look-ups:

For a copy of his DC:

Good luck,
Charles
