Greetings!

I have only recently begun researching the following family histories: Coleman, Quince, Page, Smith, Thigpen...and others. I have read all of your posts, the most recent ones from 2002 that I could find, and also those of "Retha" ?

Here is what I can add:
My father - George Samuel Coleman b. Nov. 24,1942 in Bay Springs, Jasper Co., MS

My paternal grandfather - Hargest Coleman b. Feb 02, 1910 d. Pontiac, Oakland Co., MI in Mar. 1983.

Grandpa Hargest was married to (Rose, Rosetta, Rosa, Rosie - spelling? her tombstone says Rosie) Quince.

Grandma Quince b. 1915 , place unk. d. 1955 in MI during childbirth.

Grandma's children are:
George Samuel, Johnny, Delores (deceased 1998), Sandy G called Sam (deceased 1980s), Joseph, Linda (deceased 1990s).

Grandma Quince's siblings:
1. Mary Duckworth (nee Quince) - living in Pontiac, MI
2. "Cuzanne" b. 1911? (this is how she says her name, actual spelling unclear) - living in Pontiac, MI. Previously lived in Bay Springs, MS but her son recently made her move to MI since she is feeble. I just saw both Mary and Couzann a month ago at a graduation party for one of my younger cousins.
3. I am aware of these other sibling names: Barbara, Wash, Mat, Ann, Abraham, Peter...they had all been living in Bay Springs until their deaths. Two boys were grandma babies from a previous marriage or out of wedlock.

As far as I know Grandma "R" mother name was Chanie Quince usu. refered to as Grandma Chanie whose father was either William or George Quince. I found a William Quince from Africa in the 1870 Newton Co., MS census who m. Martha(sp)? with one child (Toney) and Auntie Cuzanne - in her late 80's now told me h-e-r granddad was definitely an African...possibly a slave. I feel that George Quince is William's son.

My personal info: b. Feb 24, 1966 at Pontiac General Hosiptal in Pontiac, MI to George Samuel Coleman and Bernice Marie Cyrus (b. May 22, 1942 in Trinidad, West Indies). I have 3 other siblings, George, Calvin, and Cathy. We all have children. Mine: son Mario b. 01 Mar 1982 at Fort Bragg, NC & daug Jhani Ellen-Marie b. 16 Dec. 1984 at Fayetteville, NC. I served in the US Army 1986 - 1997 & is a Gulf War I Veteran.

Again, I have no idea when you might discover this post and perhaps reply to me. Most of my cousins are in their 40 and 50's and have been to Bay Springs. My father was a US Marine we moved constantly in and out of the US. In May 2003, I finally reunited with my Uncles, Aunts, Cousins after I had not been around them since I was 7 yr old. I had been searching for the Colemans forever. I am thrilled to be learning about my father's Quince, Thigpen side. I recently discovered (1) I am related to Justus Thigpen Sr & Jr. who have both played professionally for the NBA & actress Lynn Thigpen from Joliet, IL who recently died.
