I know there were Clarks in the Cape Fear area of North Carolina but I
don't know if they were conmnected to my line of Clarks who were in
Talladega County, AL right before the Civil Watr.
Perhaps someone can help me out. The census for that Alabama County in
1850 listed the following family:
Samuel Clark age 52 born GA
Louisa Clark age 35 born NC
D. Ann Clark age 12 born GA
Marion Clark(M) age 10 born GA
Rebecca Clark age 8 born AL
Sarah Clark age 6 born AL
Jasper Clark age 4 born AL
Israel age 1 born AL
This Sarah Clark appears to be my GG Grandmother. In the 1860 census for
Talladega County, AL she was married to William Meridith Ponder. After
the Civil War this young couple migrated into what is now Pike County,
Arkansas. Is there anyone who can tell me if these Clarks are related
in any way to the Archibald, Gilbert & Alexander Clark who were in the
Cape fear area.
All assistance gratefully accepted.
