The phonectic spelling Ruark is more than likely the Irish O'Rourke,just as
Mcquilkin was spelled McCuilcean and research now shows that this name was
the Irish McColgan spelled in many forms as O'Colchain,McColcan,McCulgan.
The Wilkinson's who came into Cape Fear in 1771 were McQuilkin's ,but only
one Neill McCuilkan signed his name as such.There is a old grave in the
McAllister cheif's graveyard of Balliknall (I hope I spelled it right that
has one Duncan McColchain died 1693.I have him on the 1685 tenant roll had
Duncan McCuilcean,so you see there are very many spelling's to a name.I for one
have seen many errors in the surname books.
