A good resource for researching Cumberland County residents is the
Cumberland Co. Library's State and Local History Room. Web site-

There are numerous records such as tax records and census data on file. The
NC State Archives in Raleigh would also be an excellent resource. They have
many extant records including many land grants on file. The Johnston Co.
Library Library in Smithfield also has many good genealogical resources.
