Several months ago, I finished John Prebble's book on the Highland
Clearances. It is replete with specific incidences of cruelty to the
subtenants and crofters. The book gives specific place names where
events occurred and the also names the perpetrators of the various acts
of violence.

Most of the people were relocated within the North of Scotland but some
left for other countries.

I am interested in finding books that describe the details of those
emigrant voyages and the conditions under which the emigrants lived in
their new countries. Leyland's book "Scotch-Irish" is very detailed
regarding those former Lowland Scots that migrated to Northern Ireland
and later to the Colonies of America. I'm interested in a similar book
detailing the "cleared" Highland Scots and their emigration.

Recommendations will be appreciated!
