Could someone please answer a few questions that I have. I am looking for
the surname REID. McKAY is also a connection. Does anyone know if any of
the Reids who came into this area in the 1700's were from
Aberdeenshire.....that is Aberdeen Reids. I mean Reids that originated in
Aberdeen, but may have left from Glasgow or thereabouts.
Regarding naming patterns, Electricscotland information states that if a
middle name is a surname, then it is almost certainly a taken name from
maybe the doctor that delivered or even a landlord. Does anyone know if any
of the Scots took the name of a clan perhaps in connection with military
purposes.....as a middle name. In particular, I am interested in Dr.Thomas
McDonald Reid in Cross Creek. I understand there was a William McDonald
Reid as well. Any information I can obtain would be appreciated. Thank you
very much. Sarah
