Hi;
Having just located this mailing list I thought I would send off a quick
message.
It will be interesting to see how this list relates to the newsgroup -
soc.genealogy.west-indies that has been in operation for some time. There
seems to be a growing interest in the West Indies and family history
research judging from the messages that appear in various mailing lists and
newsgroups.
My ancestors - 7 generations of WEATHERILL from 1698, were at Antigua
before one line of the family - my one, left St Johns, Antigua for London,
England in the 1810's. From there family members moved to Victoria,
Australia in the 1850's onwards.
I have collected some information on Antigua over the years- both history
and genealogy. There is an excellent 3 volume book written by Vere Langford
Oliver in 1892 on the History of Antigua which contain a large number of
family pedigrees.
I hope that this list can grow and meet the aims as set by list owner. It
is great to see it in operation.
Cheers,
David
