Dear all,

I just spent the last 6 hours finishing the files to get the CaribbeanGenWeb
Archives searchable! It is finished!

You can do a search from the main Caribbean page, or from the Archive page.
It includes all Caribbean archive files that I am aware of on the internet.
These, of course, are primary source documents that someone has transcribed
and put on the internet.

If you know of any other files "out there," I can add them, too. The search
can "reach out" and extract surnames from any files anywhere on the
internet. So, if you have anything like this, I would be pleased to include
it in the search feature. You don't have to donate the archive file to
anyone. It will remain "yours" and at your website always.

This was a very important thing to consider when I setup the search. Many
people do not wish to "donate" their files and hard work to someone else
(and especially to some organization!), but they are happy to put them on
their own websites for other genealogists to use. So, I have made this
possible; AND allowed a search from ONE central location, so everyone
researching in the Caribbean can find any files anywhere online. Whew!
This has been no small amount of work.

I must THANK Patty Lindsay of rootsweb for helping me with this project!
She has been terrific. Her search engine was already setup at rootsweb, and
her vision preceeded mine for this kind of a project. With a few
programming adjustments on her part, I was able to do my part, and get this
ready for us! :) Without Patty's help, cgi-script, and programming, none
of this would have been possible.

If anyone finds any "bugs" or anything not working correctly, please let me
know. Please.

Again, you folks are the best. For the last several days, I've been working
on these files (and doing the boring job of going to my job), so I haven't
answered most of the email that has come to my inbox. Please forgive the
delay. I'll catch up on correspondence just as soon as I can. You folks
are great!

Carol
