With regard to Mr.Codrington's enquiry below.....

>Can anyone help me with notations of the surname "Glasse" which I recall
>being somewhere in some graveyard be it St. John's, St. Michael's, or St.
>Philips Parish's I know I saw the family name there, but I was working hard
>on other stuff, and I don't have any of the good references from Barbados in
>my own possession to help...Any ideas?

I phoned my mother, the grand dame of the Barbados Archives, for suggestions:

In the Reading Room at that institution there rests a book on the subject
of Barbadian monumental inscriptions, by a Mr.Oliver, dated sometime circa
1912?

Madame has no recall of the name Glasse in any of her graveyard
expeditions, nor in any of her various searches for clients.

Beyond that, GLASSE is 'an unheard-of name' in everyday Barbados of today.

It's not much, but I hope this is a start.

David Hunt.
