I have been looking at the birth records registration books held at the
Family History Library. Within it it holds the records of births registered
with both the fathers and mothers name. I am seeking my grandmother's birth
registration but do not have her date of birth. I do however have both her
mothers and fathers name. Does anyone know whether the registrar would
require to see a marriage certificate before registering the child under the
parents or is it the case as here in the UK whereby you cannot register the
child under the fathers name without him being present.
