Chris: I thought your observation was well put AND timely.
I've been researching my (Jamacian) family history in somewhat in a vacuum
primarily because of the observation you made - the family has links to
Scotland, England, Africa, etc. For example, my maternal great grand father
(Henry CAMPBELL - from Saint Catherine, Palmetta Grove) was reportedly from
Scotland and he married (or had children by) a "racially mixed" woman
(Elizabeth RAMSEY). Although some of Elizabeth's relatives were from England,
she is also reported to be "of African desendant".
Tracking Henry's and Elizabeth's ancestors have been a major problem because
(I suspect) I've been primarily focusing in the St. Cathrine area. I fully
agree with your that our individual search for information would be more
fruitful if carried out as a "community" effort and look forward to other
positive reaction.
