I have always thought that Acts17:26 was a good text for a genealogist. When
in the 1920s in England, the Rev. Conrad Noel, the "Red Vicar" of Thaxted
flew the Red Flag from the church tower he had embroidered that text on it.
In those days of High Imperialism it was considered scandalous and very
Bolshevik! I remember as a boy in the 50s reading the adventures of Bulldog
Drummond which was written in the 20s without realising that it was terribly
anti-semitic. It never occurred to me!
I always enjoy the fact that through one on my lines I can go back to King
Edward III and thence by the Spanish Royal house to the Muslims of Spain and
the Prophet Mahomet! So can about a million people in Britain who are not
descended from recent immigrants. But most do not know it - or sometimes
want to know it.
Incidentally people like Colin Powell who go back through planter lines to
Edward III can do the same.
We are indeed of one blood.
