Subject: [CARIBBEAN] Ollivierre and Wallace families

Greetings Listees,
Does anyone have any knowledge of Joesph and Frances Ollivierre who
bought Paget Farm on Bequia in the 1860's? I have heard that possibly
the Ollivierres came from France to Jamaica, then to Bequia. Is that a
familiar name in Jamaica? I suspect they came via Grenada, as the
Grenadines had belonged to the French colony of Grenada - but am looking
for anyone who may know of this family. Once SVG was in British
possession (1763), this name shows up in SVG records as Ollivierre
(French), Olivier (English) and Oliviera (Portuguese)...as small as this
island is, I am led to believe this is the recorder's "creative license"
for the same family. But, this is, of course, speculation.
Also, I am trying to locate information on a Scotsman who went to St.
Vincent to manage Prospect Estate in 1830 - Sir William Wallace, a
retired Navy officer. Someone else asked earlier today about the
Scottish movement towards St. Vincent...was this not a result of the
King of England repossessing territory in Scotland? (help me here,
please).
I have done my homework in the Courthouse in Kingstown, St. Vincent but
to little avail. Any clues to Ollivierres outside of Bequia and St.
Vincent would also be helpful.
thank you,
Cindy Kilgore Brown
