- Yes, SVG stands for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

- Yes, Bequai is an island.

- Between St. Vincent and Grenada lie a string of very small islands called the
Grenadines. Of these, the populated islands Bequai, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau,
Union Island, Palm Island (used to be Prune Island), Union Island and PSV (Petit
St. Vincent) are governed by St. Vincent. The southern islands of Carriacou,
Petit Martinique and Carriacou are governed by Grenada.

There are airstrips on Bequai, Mustique, Canouan, Union Island and Carriacou,
and there is a disused grass strip on Palm that may be opened again due to fresh
commercial activity there.

In addition to the populated islands there are perhaps another ten or twelve
uninhaboted islands and more pieces of land that are just rocks or sand bars
sticking out of the ocean.

The sea is very shallow in most places and in some lagoons the se is a light
turquoise colour - quite amazing to see from the air.

The drawback in this area is the under water volcano called Kick-Em Jenny in the
southern Grenadines, just off Carriacou. It is reported to be a live volcano and
liable to erupt at any moment.

It must be remembered that, with the exception of Barbados, the chain of islands
which form the Caribbean chain are volcanic in origin and formed at the tektonic
conjunction of the Atlantic and Caribbean plates. Most large islands have
volcanoes, active or dormant (St. Lucia calls their - active and smoldering -
resident the "drive-in volcano").
