Dear Alex, Three hundred years later believe it or not the Barbados
phone book still shows Proverbs concentrated in St Phillip. My father an
agronomst had a Barbadian named Nathan Proverbs working for him in St
Croix in the 1950s. Mr. Proverbs was of mixed race and married a white
American while working for Dad. He was the proprietor of his own farm
and went back to Barbados.
