We West Indians, (ie the English Speaking persons in the
Caribbean) inherited some British habits and made them our
own. I imagine "Shandy" is one of them, like the game of Cricket is
another one. Like Tea for us could be "Caufee Tea" (Coffee), "Cocoa Tea"
a
spiced "Hot Chocolate" and "Bush Tea" (any combination of local herbs
sweetened with real brown sugar, not molasses coloured or caramel
coloured white sugar).

Yes there are some things the have become Caribbean or West Indian.
Being West Indian is also one of them. Carib has a Shandy Ginger whish
is what Michelle refered to and there is the Shandy Sorrel which is
Carib with Sorrel( a drink from the red enlarged calyces of a tyoe of
Hibiscus, not red Hibiscus petals). Now if that ain't Caribbean or West
Indian
nothing else is.

I hope that I have not confused you all, but I just could not
resist sharing my heritage.

Jennifer
