Sorry to be so long answering: your question is difficult for me to answer.
Our ancestor Jacques Sicard emigrated from France according to family lore.
It was late 1700's. He was overseer of a plantation owned by deValois. The
deValois were killed during the Haitian slave rebellion and Sicard escaped
with as much of their chattells as he could muster, including their daughter
Marguerite. He hired a boat and sailed for Jamaica. I have tracked him
definitely, in Jamaica, having obtained exerpts from his marriage contract of
1798 and his will, of 1824. Actually, I'm hoping to trace the deValois girl
and was remiss in not including that surname in my posting. It was late at
night and I wasn't thinking clearly.
Does this give you enough to continue the dialogue ?
