Happy New Year to everyone on the List!

The second edition of a very helpful book is now out. It is "Genealogical
Research in England's Public Rcord Office: a guide for North Americans", by
Judith Prowse Reid and Simon Fowler (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing
Company, 2000), ISBN 0-8063-1632-2. The various chapters include:
-- When to use the PRO, and why
-- A guide to the PRO's facilities
-- Using the PRO: finding aids
-- Emigration and immigration (includes records on emigrants to North
America, and records on immirants to England.)
-- Other records (includes probate, wills, etc., military records, etc)

There is some information West Indian records, but the best source for West
Indian research is still Guy Grannum's book "Tracing Your West Indian
Ancestors: sources iin the PRO" .
