Hi ==

Much to my surprise, I recently found a voided will of Thomas Richard
SURRIDGE (husband of Mary Lavinia Maddix HOWELL, born 1833 in Jamaica).
The will names Thomas' mother in law as his executor, and gives her full
married name -- Susanna Loreain (Lorane?) Maddix HOWELL -- she would have
been born about 1815, in Jamaica.

It is quite possible that Susanna was the daughter of Christopher J.
MADDIX, who (according to the 1839 and 1840 Jamaica Almanacs) held several
municipal offices in Kingston, and owned Belcour Lodge in St. Andrews
Parish. In 1820 (according to the Jamaica Almanac), he owned Cassia Grove
Pen in St. Andrews Parish. He was probably born about 1780, possibly in
Jamaica.

I will order the relevant BMD films from the LDS tomorrow, but while I'm
waiting for the films to arrive, can anyone provide any information on
Susanna Maddix or her (supposed) father Christopher Maddix?

Thank you.

Bob
