Sorry, Cod, that it took me this long to answer your questions regarding the
Royal Gazette.

First, I do not claim to be an expert on the newspaper. Carol and I have 6
rolls of microfilm of the paper. This is just my observations.

The paper came out weekly. It seems to have 3, sometimes 4, sections to it.
The main part, the "Supplement", the "Postscript", and sometimes "Additional
Postscript". The print is very small and is not always east to read.
Sometimes
the print is light, sometimes there are dark areas, and the type is old
fashioned making it hard to read.. For example they use the figure that
looks
like an "f" for "s".

The main section of the newspaper has mostly world affairs, proclamations of
the
King, issues before the House of Commons, etc. There are many
advertisements.
People selling land, selling slaves, looking for runaway slaves, lists of
goods
for sale from newly arrived ships, dissolving of partnerships, etc. The
last
section, the "Postscript" has a "Kingston" section. That seems to have the
most
genealogical stuff. There are announcements of marriages, deaths,
occasionally
a birth. It also has some passengers arriving and people leaving the Island
as
well as lists of ships that are coming and going.

All that being said... I am in the process of going through the films that
I
have and pulling out genealogical information. It's hard to know what
people
will find of interest. As I go along I will be sending information to
Patricia
and she is going to post it to her website. Perhaps when I am done I will
put
it in a written form if anyone is interested. (That's away off.) Any input
as
to what you think is of importance or any other input would be great. For
instance, does anyone really care about the names of the ships?
