The main source for information on Gabriel Milan is the piece by Fr. Krarup
in Personalhistorisk Tidsskrift. It comes in two parts:

Krarup, Fr.: "Gabriel Milan og Somme i hans Samtid", Personalhistorisk
Tidsskrift, Kbenhavn 1893, 3. rkke, bind 2, pp. 102-130
Krarup, Fr.: "Gabriel Milan og Somme i hans Samtid", Personalhistorisk
Tidsskrift, Kbenhavn 1894, 3. rkke, bind 3, pp. 1-51.

This piece is an extensive aricle on Milans life.

Also in Danish is:

Hauch-Fausbll, Th.: "Jdernes Frden og Ophold i den danske Stat i det 17de
Aarhundrede", Tidsskrift for Jdisk Historie og Literatur, 2. bind, 2.
hfte, Levin & Munksgaard, Kbenhavn 1920.

It deals with the first Jews in Denmark in the 17th century. Milan is
mentioned but not all that much.

In Danish to is:

Katz, Per: "Jderne i Danmark i det 17. rhundrede". Udgivet af Selskabet
for dansk jdisk Historie. C.A. Reitzels Boghandel A/S, Kbenhavn 1981

It to deals with the Jews in Denmark in the 17th century and is more or less
a repeat of what is in Hauch-Fausbll. Though with a few extra details on
Milan, but not that many.

Is Danish again is:

Hornby, Ove: Kolonierne i Vestindien", Politikens Forlag, Kbenhavn 1980.

Contrary to the other above mentioned Hornby on p. 21 deals in some detail
with the way Gabriel Milan behaved whilst a guvernor on St. Thomas. Among
other things letting a runaway slave be tortured to death. One of the
reasons why he was brought back to Denmark, tried at Supreme Court and
executed.

The most excellent book on the sephardic Jews in Germany and Denmark in the
16th, 17th and 18th century - if one is interested in the intricate family
relations and the sometimes many different names the respective Jews used -
is:

Kellenbenz, Hermann: Sephardim an der unteren Elben", Franz Steiner Verlag,
Wiesbaden 1958.

It also mentions Gabriel Milan and his family relations. I can warmly
recommend it.
