Indeed and that opens up many more questions wether wanted or not. For me
at least it was enlightening as my last name matched the others including
that of the clan chief .. so i recommend it.

The problem with either Y chromosome testing or mitochondrial DNA testing is
that you need an unbroken line, either male to male or female to female,
back to whoever you want to compare to. Particularly with the male line,
there is a substantial degree of uncertainty because studies show, cutting
accross all social, cultural and geographic lines, that something like 5-10%
of chidren are not the biological offspring of their "fathers." You may
find out what part of the world your paternal line Y chromosome came from,
but still be in the dark as to how it got to you.
