Thank you Dorothy, old girl! In fact, I know how old you are, and you are
quite a bit younger than me! But I won't divulge our ages here. Let's
therefore go to the core of your information. I was able to check FHL film
1291702. I jotted down the contents : St. Mary Paris Bapt., marr., burial
index (v.1) 1752-1847 (vol. 2 missing). But as far as I could see that was
only an index, where I found the name William Campbell, who could have been
the William Campbell mentioned as John Campbell's father at the latter's
marriage on 28 Dec. 1898. John was then said to be 24, therefore presumably
born in 1874. Finding no other William Campbell, I am hoping that the one
born in 1842 could be John's father, who would have been 32 when that
presumed son John was born. Quite possible, no? But in the index there is
only a reference to the birth register : 8, and the folio : 3. Are you
telling me now that the actual baptism is there and that Patricia Jackson
has it in her website?
Of course I remember the "elusive mariner", does he still elude you?
I hope I'll come to the end of this, thank you for what you have told me
already.
Jan.
