MY understanding is, that the reports that are sent to the home office, were
sent to Pa.
(This subject is one of my 'soapboxes', and from time to time I,contact the
Library, I have even contacted the minister at New Hernhutt, hoping to spark
an interest in making available the documents.)
I believe that the documents are in paper form, but that they are well cared
for, if I recall, from my last conversation, it might be possible to
extract information. When I had this conversation, responses were vague, as
he did not know who I was, maybe he, personally, was not interested in
genealogy, (you know how 'those' people are), and I was not in Pa to follow
up with a visit.
I have written letters, and made phone calls, I have even contacted the
Director of Acquisitions for FHL, re opening dialogue to film the
documents. I have and continue to tell Genealogy.com, every time they call
me to sell me World Family Tree, "not until you put the Caribbean
information on disk". Not to much results, but I still hope.
I have a problem, with the denial/dismissal of the Caribbean in America,
African American, and World History.
But back to the Moravians, maybe we can come up with ideas.
Do we know anyone in the area that can extract, or better copy. The NC
Library, will not allow copy, but they will do a search, and give a
typewritten documents. I rather, see a copy of the actual document, as we
all know, mistakes can be made in transcribing.
