He also had ties with St. Croix, Danish (now the U.S.) Virgin Islands. I
believe his mother was from there and the airport on St. Croix was named in
his honor until very recently (and there is always the controversy that the
name should be returned to the Hamilton airport).

Hamilton also has a connection to St. Vincent. That is where his estranged
father ended up (after absconding from Nevis shortly after Alexander's
birth). I have not attempted to find out, nor am I aware of anyone else
having done the research, but I would not be surprised if some of the
Hamiltons on St. Vincent today are descended from that James Hamilton and
thus closely related to Alexander.
