The posting with follows appeared on one of the other lists to which I
subscribe. A search at the site listed brings up the following two
listings:

1. Claimant: CARLOCK, James Jackson
Application Number: 29269
County: Bell

2. Claimant: CARLOCK, William Voules Culton
Application Number: 19623
County: Mills

The site states that "Confederate veterans and their widows were dependent
upon the generosity of the already impoverished former Confederate states
for any postwar pension benefits. In awarding pensions for Confederate
service, Texas, like most other southern states, confined its relief
payments to veterans or their widows resident in Texas since 1880 who were
disabled or indigent. Therefore, the index of applicants for Confederate
pensions in no way represents a complete roster of Texas residents who had
fought for the Confederacy."

The site also lists instructions for ordering copies of applications found
in the index.

According to my records, James Jackson CARLOCK (s/o Frederick Cornelius
"Cornelius" CARLOCK/CARELOCK; John CARLOCK, Sr.; Frederick CARLOCK;
Frederick (possibly Cornelius) CARLOCK/CARELOCK; David GERLACH/CARLOCK; Hans
GERLACH), b. 8 Sept. 1844, Franklin Co., AL; m. Sarah "Sally" Ann MCCRORY, 7
Nov 1866, Ashley Co., AR; d. 18 Aug 1928, Colorado, Bastrop Co., or Colorado
Co., TX; bd. North Belton Cemetery, Bell Co., TX.

Also according to my records, William Voules Culton (or Vance) CARLOCK (s/o
Jacob C. CARLOCK, Jr.; Jacob "Jake" CARLOCK, Sr.; Hanchrist CARLOCK, David
GERLACH/CAROLCK, Hans GERLACH), b. MO or TN; m.#1. Elizabeth TATUM, ca. 30
Aug 1852, Old Tishamingo Co. (now Alcorn Co.), MS; m.#2. __________; d.
1924, Austin, TX.

If anyone orders a copy of either of the two above-mentioned pension
applications, I would be very much interested in the information listed on
the applications.
