Hello Pauline,
I am not indexing Llangeler. I understand that your indexing is done in Excel, which I don't have.
As you know, Llangeler is a very poor copy and the first 4 double pages are completely unreadable and some of the rest is very difficult to see.
In my photo editing programme it is possible to duplicate layers of the same image to make them more dense and even bring out detail that was not visible at all before. This was intended for very under exposed or very old faded photos but hopefully it would work on the census images.
I have been unable to try it because the images are password protected. There is no guarantee that it would work.
If I could have an unlocked version and was able to produce a readable version of the problem pages I would be happy to transcribe them for the use of all members and pass on the technique to indexers who have photo editing programmes that work with layers and blending modes.
Regards,
Margaret.
