Hello Pauline,

I'd like a look-up on the 91 census for my great grandparents. My grandfather was
born March 1896 at 12 Raby Street, Llanelli to Thomas (John) Davies and Mary Ellen
Davies. Thomas and Mary Ellen had several children and I think my grandfather
Brinley was the second child though I'm not certain of this. Their other children
were William John, Lillian, Gwynfor and Edgar. I'm hoping the family were in Raby
Street or at least that area at the census. Thomas worked in the tin works.

The other look-up is for my grandmother's parents David and Mary Jones. My
grandmother, Beatrice Jones, was born in January 1895 in Cilsaig Row, Dafen. Again
she was one of several children- Annie, Mary Jane, Katie, Bill bach (probably
William) and at least two other brothers. I'm hoping again the family were in
Dafen for the census. David was a miner.
I hope you can find them so I can go back further. I've looked up the 81 census
but without knowing their ages its impossible with these names!

With regards my Ray family, I know the family moved to the Gorlas - Cross Hands
area in the early part of this century. What Parish do these villages come under?

I was reading the book I recommended yesterday in bed last night - and what a
shock! I was on the section relating to drunkenness in Carmarthen and the book
happened to mention a family who'd been charged countless times for being drunk -
the father over 90 times. Guess what their surnames were - that's right Rae. It's
spelt differently but I think I'll have to take a day off work and visit
Carmarthen r.o to look up the quarter sessions for that period!.
