Hello Tony
Thanks for the e-mail, it was very interesting. The problem being that you are
in this century which makes it a little bit harder for us to locate them.
(Our computer records are mainly pre 1900) The last census we have is the
1891 census. 1901 is not out until 2002!!
For the burials, if they died in Llanelli these may be buried in Box Cemetary
- which is the main cemetary in Llanelli for most burials. You have already
been informed that there are no Roman Catholic burial grounds. To view these
records and with the name Keane - the Llanelli Council charge £5.00 per search
from their records - they will give you the burial plots, ages, abode for all
the people of this name, so the price is reasonable. They are all computer
recordings.
St Catherine's House Index records could tell you how many Keane's were in
Llanelli because Llanelli is the Registration district for this area - so if
they were born, married or buried in Llanelli they will come under Llanelli
Reg dist.
The explosive factory was in Pembrey itself. Not sure when it closed down but
I could find out if you really wanted to know. I think it was perhaps in the
1940'/50's.
The other source to check these names is on the electoral registers for this
area. They should be on the electoral roll for each election year if they
were residing in this district.
Does this help you at all? If I can answer you further, or assist let me know
I will be glad to help you.
Regards
Pauline James
