Regarding the inquiry of Patricia Phillips (V 99 # 59):
I am very much interested in this family. I have recently found my
Great
Grandfather, George PHILLIPS, in the 1881 census (Many thanks to Huw
Daniel).
From the 1881 Carmarthen census:

PHILLIPS, George, HD, 44, Warehouseman b. CHH. Kidwelly
PHILLIPS, Hannah, WI, 43 b. PEM. Cosheston
PHILLIPS, Thomas, SO, U, 18, Plumber b. CHH. St. Ismael
PHILLIPS, Esther, DA, 13, Scholar b. CHH. St. Ishmael
PHILLIPS, David, SO, 10, Scholar b. CHH. St. Ishmael
PHILLIPS, Mary, DA, 6, Scholar b. CHH. St. Ishmael
George and Hannah had 2 other children that I know about: William (my
grandfather) b. October 1860 and Emily Hannah b. April 1865. I haven't
established a date/ship for their immigration, family lore is that William
came at about 20 years of age and that Emily most likely came with him.
They
came to Brown County, Kansas, and located near the town of Hiawatha.
Later,
David (b. October 1870) and Esther "Etta" joined them in Brown County.
Family lore says that Thomas and Mary never left Wales and that Mary died
there "at a young age".
Does this appear to connect with Patricia's data or is it wishful
thinking on my part? Any information on any of this family would be most
welcome. I would dearly love to make contact with descendants of Thomas,
the
brother that stayed in Wales, or of Mary, if she lived long enough to have
descendants.
