An Extract from A delightful Little book called:
A History of Holy Trinity Church, Pwll, 1904 -1984 by Elaine Unstead, 1984
In 1908 with tremendous excitement, the Sunday School treat was to far off
Mumbles:-
" For weeks, the days and the hours had been reckoned and although they
seemed to linger more than usual, the long-wished-for day came at last, and
with it, 5 breaks to carry over 100 merry hearts on a pleasure trip.
The weather was beautifully fine, the sun shining brightly on hill and dale,
making the country delightfully pretty, filling our hearts with joy and
enabling us to forget that we were travelling at times in clouds of dust.
The start from Pwll was made at 8.30am. and Mumbles was reached before 1.00
o'clock. The few hours at our disposal there was spent most happily and it
was with difficulty that we managed to make a start for home at 6.30pm. We
reached Pwll soon after 10.00 o'clock having thoroughly enjoyed the outing.
It is a pity that so many failed to get leave to come, they missed a rare
treat and we surely hope that they will be able to join us next year"

Note:
The journey took them three and a half hours each way in 1908, today the
same journey would take no more than 45 minutes, Pwll is a hamlet in Pembrey
Parish halfway between Burry Port & Llanelli, Mumbles is on the South of the
Gower Peninsula at the west end of Swansea Bay.
