Hi Debbie

Thanks for your e-mail - Richard is just upgrading the webb pages so it will
have another URL number in the next few days for the photographs -
hopefully.

Oh yes, the cockle picking days as youngsters in this part of Wales was a
real treat as children (1950's) Burry Port and Llanelly was renown for its
cockles, along with cockle picking famous Penclawdd and of course Kidwelly
Ferryside and St Ishmaels - the cockles are still here (but not as many now)
but those days have gone - excepting Richard and I and our daughter Sarah
went to Ferryside two summers ago to gather some cockles - the cockle war
was on at the time - but Richard only wanted a panful - I don't eat them
anymore - but Richard and my late father used to love them as a treat.....
oh happy days, children just want theme parks now, not a nice day away on
our local beaches ...

The cockle factory is in Burry Port run by Parsons - these cockles are
delivered far and wide - have any readers from away heard of Parsons
Pickles/Cockles??

Regards
Pauline

Hi Pauline, Richard and Listers,
I look forward to viewing your web site with the pictures you have taken. As
you say, Carmarthen is a beautiful part of the world.
My husband used to spend is school summer holidays as a small boy in
Kidwelly with his step Auntie and Uncle. Right in front of the castle.
His Uncle used to walk him most days from Kidwelly to Ferryside cockle
picking and them home again!
Wonderful days I,m sure.
Many thanks,
Kind regards,
Debbie.
