Hi Pat, Gerry and Pauline,
Thank you all for your replies to my message.
Benjamin Owens' birth certificate (July 1850) just says 'Bridge Street,
Carmarthen', no
house number, and I take your point that 73 is the schedule number, not the
house number.
The family were not living in Bridge Street In the 1881 census - I had a
look just to see if I could see any dwellings that could have held 19
people, but all I found were houses numbered up to 39, with an inn I think
but no evidence of multiple families in any one dwelling.
Pat, you are quite right, that is him in Neath in the 1881 census with a
wife Marian
(actually Mary Ann) - thanks very much for your kind offer but I have the
CDs and was just trying to find out about the 1851 census entry.
Thank you Pauline for a very enlightening glimpse of life in the area in
the early 1800s - very edifying!
Kind regards to all,
Karen
