Hi Bobby,
>From Rowland and Rowland's "Surnames of Wales" for Eynon we find:
It is a patronymic name from Welsh Einion, which in South Wales speech
become Einon...this spelling still exists in small numbers. Morgan and
Morgan "Welsh Surnames" describes Einion as one of the commonest
forenames in Wales. By the 15C it does not exceed 1% in any area.
BEYNON (ab Eynon) has it's own pattern of distribution. Some varients
of Eynon include Inions and Onions. From 1813-37 Eynon was very much a
name of south/southwest Wales most particularly Pembrokeshire. It is
very much absent from north Wales.
Regards, Elaine.
