Pauline, his is my gentle nudge as you do seem to have had a pile of new
questions. I have heard nothing from Eliz. Orme so perhaps things are
not going well for her.
Do you believe(in addition to this forwarded note) that I would benefit
from getting copies of Ann Griffiths/Henry Davies 1817 wedding from
Haverfordwest or not? Do they usually include witnesses? I'd appreciate
yur advice before sending money for copies. Jane

Pauline, here is what I wrote recently, pasted in one letter.
If you told me, I had completely forgotten if you did say about
ThomasFRANCIS (who was a smith and then aboilerman) having David as a
father. This is the Thomas who married Jane Phillip in October 1833.He
was listed as 40 in 1851 so could have been born in Jan1812 (or after
Feb 24, 1811)
24/2/1822 (This means he could be 10 from March 1811 up to this date
say) Thomas Francis son of David and Catherine, Mill, Collier aged 10.
I don't remember having this as you said you could not find him; but it
fits with baptist wedding later of his son. Thanks for finding this -
now I have his parents
Here is 1851 census you sent:-
:(Census date about April 1851?)
Daven Row Llanelly ,
Thomas Francis aged 40 Smith,
Jane wife aged 39,
John 14, Thomas 12. Sarah 10, David 8, William 4, Elizabeth 2, Margaret
2 months,
all born in Llanelly Carmarthenshire.

Was asking about Thomas F. No. 1's death? If born about 1812, he'd be 70

in 1882 and he was then dead. I don't have 1871 census but in 1861 he
was a boilerman entrepreneur with 6 men in a firm (then 50) If he was
alive in 1871, it would narrow the field to 10years. He was also alive
when son Thos. married in 1864.
I could try deaths in GRO-is that a goodidea? I have to look up one
anyway for another relative died 1868 in Somerset. Is it worth me
ordering the 1871 census?
I don't mind sending the 5 pounds if you think that's the best route to
take.
Would David and Catherine's marriage be in our Carmarthen marriages? I
must look.Oh no they don't go back before 1813 so won't find it there.
No luck with IGI either.
Your expertise is needed again, Pauline.
. Thanks so much. Regards, Jane
SECOND NOTE:-
I expect you received my note about the 2 Thomas Francis and the 1822
baptism which I hope can be confirmed one way or another.
I have one extra concern-much later my grandmother,Margaret FRANCIS
daughter of Thos. and Ann(married 1864) turns up in Monmouthshire and
marries Henry CHas. DAVIES in 1892. Maybe you could ask Libby if any of
her connections went east to Monmouth...perhaps earlier. I cannot think
why she would go unless a brother or cousin was there. The marriage
witness for her marriage in Jan. 1892 -at a registry office- was John
FRANCIS and Lettice Thomas in Bedwelty(New Tredegar)..
Margaret's(FRANCIS) uncle John was older than her father having been
born around 1837. I wonder if it was him. She had no brothers of that
name.
Just a thought to explain her movements!
Thanks for thinking of me as part of the FRANCIS inquiry!! Hope the
weather is better, Jane
I hope this is clear,Pauline. Don't worry if you can't do anything.
