Talking about Derek's search has reminded me that I haven't actually posted
any of my interest yet. I am trying to trace my ggrandparents. David Thomas
(Dai cobbler) was a shoemaker in Llandovery. He married Hannah Davies. We
think that either Hannah's mother or grandmother came over from Ireland
being single and pregnant. This was obviously such a huge cause of shame in
the family that we could never get our own grandmother or great aunt to
discuss it. Therefore the information has died with them. David and Hannah
had six children. William, Edward, Sarah Ann, Blodwen, David and Johanna
Myfanwy. Sarah Ann was my grandmother, and I think the eldest or second
eldest. Unfortunately I don't know her year of birth, but she had her second
child (my mother) in 1920. I do have a date for Johanna Myfanwy. She was the
youngest and was born 14 October 1912. The address given at the time of the
birth was 78 High Street, Llandovery, Carms. Is there anything here that
anybody can do anything with? Is it possible to get anything from the 1881
census? Does anybody have any ideas of where else I can look?
I would appreciate any information available.
