Hi Pauline

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I had seen the marriage you mention, on your 2001 CD and the probable baptism for Harriet makes it the best fit from a date viewpoint. The other possible from your CD, is a Maria Morris marriage at Brechfa Parish Church about 1828. There is repetition of Morris as middle name of one of Harriet's sons and in grandsons. The family often used maternal surnames as middle names.

Maria may have died before the 1851 Census and possibly before the 1841. I am not familiar with the typical contents of the 1841, but there may be a better chance of finding William, Maria and daughter Harriet Evans together in Carmarthen in 1841, if you have access. William with daughter Harriet is also more likely to be found than all three since Harriet's marriage certificate implies that William is still alive in 1857, possibly living in Abergwili. Did you find any William Evans, innkeepers in Carmarthen 1851?

I have access to the GRO index fiche at the local reference library and intend looking for a death of Maria Evans.

If possible, could you please have a look for William Evans and daughter Harriet on the 1841/1851 or note any entries for W.E.- innkeepers.

If anyone has a trade directory for around the 1840's its possible that it could identify William Evans.

Thanks again

Thomas
