I picked up your request this morning.
Although I cannot help you with tracing your ancestors I can help you locate
Capel Hendre, in the parish of Llandebie.
Before I emigrated to New Zealand many years ago I knew the area quite well.
It is a small village between the town of Ammanford and the village of
Penygroes. Hendref means a shetered place and Capel means Chapel. In early
days the Farmers brought their livestock fom the adjacent hills to the
Hendref to shelter during the Winter months.
The Chapel in question is a Calvanistic Methodist denomination and was until
recently a well attended congregation. Llandebie is the oldest place in the
locality and lies between Ammanford and Llandeilo.I cannot help you with
Banc y Graig. I suspect its a name of a farm at Capel Hendre. I hope this is
of help.
