Hello Margaret,
I have in my possession detailed accounts of the Cwmgwili Estate, Abergwili and its families which I have acquired over time from historical research.
The 'Cwmgwili', Philipps family had a number of Grismonds who served in both the navy and army including Sir Grismond Philipps, C.V.O. (Commander of the royal Victorian Order) who was also County Lord Lieutenant.
I have noticed though that the family name is spelt with one 'l' and a double 'p', unlike the double 'll' and one 'p' that you use in your e-mails.
Examples of some of the other 'Grismonds' of the family are..........
1) Grismond Philipps, 1686-1740
2) Grismond Philipps, 1792-1850
3) Griffith Grismond Philipps, born 28 November 1811, entered the Royal Navy, served as a Lieutenant in the 'Royal William', the 'Cornwallis' (1838), 'Seringapatam' (1839), 'Hecate' (1845), 'Acheron' (1847), 'Merlin' (1855), and on 26 May 1856 was appointed Commander of HM sloop 'Scout', and later retired in that rank.
4) Grismond Frederic Philipps, baptised at Abergwili on 22 November 1815.
I have 75 pages of information of the Cwmgwili House, Abergwili, Carmarthen (with sketches) and the Philipps family pedigree information including some charts.
If you think that this information would be of use to you in your search, I would be more than happy to e-mail it to your personal e-mail address.
best regards,
Mal Davies......... Ammanford, Carms.
