Hello Mal
Very interested to hear of your Cwmgwili research. Family lore claims a
connection with this Philipps family but I have yet to find it. Some distant
relations have been christened Grismond.
Francis Jones in his book "Historic Carmarthenshire Homes and their
Families" states under the entry for Friars Park, Carmarthen town that "in
1837 the tenant was William Philipps Esq. a member of the Cwmgwili family".
This William Philipps was an indirect ancestor but I am not confident that
Francis Jones is right about the Cwmgwili connection as he does not
acknowledge that this William Philipps is the same William Phillips
mentioned under the Waun Iago, St Peters and Clyngwynne, Llanboidy entries.
If in your research you have found a connection with West Carmarthenshire
farming families or timber merchants or tanners in Carmarthen town I would
be very interested.
Thank you
Anne
