> My gt grandfather William Herbert Lewis said he was born in Pontyberem,
Carmarthen. He said this in the 1891/1901 census for Cardiff, where he lived
at that time. Richard James kindly advised me that at the time of William's
birth, about 1837/38 Pontyberem was spread over at least three parishes:
Llanelly, Llannon and LLandarog. Now I would like to look up the 1841 census
for the appropriate parish, but wonder do I need to order all 3? William
said his father's name was James and he was a colliery manager. Can anyone
help, please. I should explain that I can order film quite cheaply from LDS
but it takes at least 3 weeks to come, and I can only hold the film for 3
weeks, so there is a problem in tackling all 3 parishes. Thanks, Ann Mackay
(ms Lewis).
