Pauline hi,
Just re read the mail re Chapel registers.
I had no idea that marriage had to take place in the Parish Church pre 1837
.
I realized that registration of births deaths and marriages had to be
carried out in the Church but thought it was an 'administrative function '
not the participation in the religious ceremonies concerned.
Does this mean that
You cannot assume that if a BDM ceremony took place in a Parish Church the
family were of that persuasion?
Also, does it follow that unless lost or damaged or human error has occurred
,the registrations of BDM pre 1837 will be in the OPR for the Parish where
the BDM took place ?
At what date did Chapel or cemetery burials start as opposed to churchyard
burial?
Glad I didn't miss your mail .
Cheers
Sue in LLantrisant
