Dear Terri,
I checked with my husband who learned how to fly in the mid-forties in So
Cal. He said there was an old airport near the wetlands between Huntington
Beach and Seal Beach. The name of the airport was Meadowlark. It had a very
short runway and was still in operation in 1986 with the note that the
Airport may be closing (according to Flight Guide Airport and Frequency
Manual Vol. 1, Eleven Western States, 1986.) I don't think you would be able
to see it from the San Diego Freeway as it was only about a mile inland from
Pacific Coast Highway. I just checked with Ken again, and he said when one
took off from Meadowlark, one would fly over PCH and "Tin Can" Beach.
Hope this answers your question,
Judy Martin
