Hi. I was born in Downey, which is not far from El Monte, but I've never heard
of Lexington or Savannah. Is that an area, or street, or city? Just curious.
I thought I knew the Los Angeles area so well.

Hi list,

I'm doing pretty good with my California ancestors, but I'm trying to find
John and Sarah C. GUESS in the 1900 census. They should be somewhere around El
Monte, Lexington, or Savannah in Los Angeles County, but I've had no luck.
John was born in Arkansas and should be about age 73 in 1900. Sarah was born in
Alabama and should be about age 51 in 1900.

Both had lengthy previous marriages: John to Harriet (Holyfield) Rogers;
Sarah to Thomas L. Hooper. John and Sarah married 07 Sep 1897 in Whittier, Los
Angeles County. Both John (d. 1919) and Sarah (d. 1924) are buried with their
previous spouses at Savannah Memorial Cemetery (El Monte Cemetery) in
Rosemead, Los Angeles County.

I have them in most other censuses, but in 1900 they have eluded me. I have
seen the name GUESS transcribed as Gness.

Hi Heather. I found them in Los Angeles. They were living with the son Richard. He was listed as:
Richard GUEN Los Angeles Co., El Monte Twp., ED 107, p.141, Sheet 24B. I can send you the image if you need it.
