Dear John and Robin,
I am not doing much good these days for several reasons, one being my printer
is not working, power failure, bumped the scanner which in turn bumped the
printer, so my mail box is filling up with stuff and I am getting even more
behind.
Anyway, I think I have not shared with you fellows that I found on the
Onondaga Co. deed index, John and Abigail Carpenter, so know that they were
there, or at least had property in Onondaga Co. Also the NY book re. Rev.
War soldiers land grants (or whatever the appropriate word is) indicated that
John Carpenter had REQUESTED land in Onondaga co. Now, I don't know how big
Onondaga co. was at the time. I would guess that this is John who married
Abigail Moore, dau of Benjamin Moore and Lois Cory of Or. Co. Her id, at
least as far as her father's name is concerned has been proven by a mortgage
doc where she is named after the death of Benjamin Moore. (This was probably
on the mortgage which I tried to put on the lists.) Anyway, as AB Carpenter
book indicated she remarried after John died a Rev. Woodruff, as I recall
that is also noted on the mortgage.
I still can't believe that this John died in Chautaqua co. I believe he is
mixed up with another John, maybe the John b. Or. Co. 1830.
Phoebe
