I saw your letter on the Carpenter rootweb site about Heinrich Zimmerman
Carpenter and was wondering if there was any connection with these two
Here is the info I have on my line.
George ( Zimmerman) Carpenter b.abt.1705 was a Swiss, German emigrant,
from Palitinate, Germany, near Heidelberg. He serve as a surgeon in the
Swiss Army for a period of time. He sailed in 1746 from Rotterdam,
Holland on the British Ship ' Neptune" with his wife ? and 2 sons,
George Jr. and John. His wife died on the trip and was buried in
Plymouth, England. He and his 2 sons landed at Philadelphia,25th.
Oct.1746, where he took the oath to Allegiance to the British. Records
show he bought 4 acres of land in Pennsylvania and 5-6 years later ( in
1752) records show him a land owner in Cub Run, near Megaheysville, in
Rockingham. Co. Va.
There he married 2nd. time to Anna Shutley.
they were married abt.1758. they had 8 children.Anna Shutley was born in
Germany 1739.George was killed in the Rev. War abt 2 mos. before his
youngest son Henry was born
George children by 1st. marriage were
George b.172? married Elizabeth Bayers
John b. 1725 married Elizabeth Spears
George and Anna Shutley children in his 2nd. marriage were;
Conrad b. ? never married
Adam b.1760 married Catherine ( Spears)Fry.
Margaret b. 1762 married George Penn or Pence
Anne b.abt.1766 married ? Millebarger
Elizabeth b.abt.1770 married John Killinger or
Sollima b. 1771 married Peter Killinger or Kiblinger
Barbara b. 1773 married John Penn or Pence
William b.1775 married Margaret Wilbarger
Henry b. 1778 married Catherine Sellars.
All 8 children were born in Rockingham Co. Va.
John, Adam and Conrad were also Rev. War Soldiers.
Henry is my G.G.G Grandfather.
In 1779 John, Adam and Conrad went to LIncoln Co. Ky.and later were
joined by 2 of their sisters and their husband .About 1810
Henry and his wife joined them.
As new territories open up in the west, many decendents from the above
families move on to Ind.,Ohio, Mo, Iowa, Tx.and Kansas
I'm always looking for more information and distant cousins.
