Follow up on post dated 3-9-2000 ;

I would like to back up and fill in on Catherine Spears 1st marriage to
John Fry Sr. ( Rev.
War Soilder)
There were 2 children by this marriage;

Leah Fry b.11-20-1778 d.1-11-1820, m. 9-9-1800, to Jacob # 1 Carpenter
b.1779
in Rockingham Co. Va. d. 1830 in Lincoln or Casey Co. Ky.

John Fry Jr. b.10-? -1782 m. 1-31-1803,
Sally McKinney. They had a son Thomas Fry
b.1-20-1805, m.8-2-1829, Nancy Penn.There were other children.

On Aug.18,1782 , 182 men gathered, 130 men from Lincoln Co. and the rest
from Fayette Co. Ky. They were commanded by Col. Stephen Trigg. They
plan to end the Indian problem once and for all. Among the men were
Daniel Boone, his son Israle and John Fry Sr. On Aug.19, the 2 opposing
groups met at the bloody, tragic Battle Of Blue Licks where the Kentucky
Militia walked into an ambush and 60 Kentickians died before the rest
fled. Daniel Boone's son, Israle , Col, Triggs and John Fry Sr., age 28
, husband of Catherine ( Spears ) Fry from Carpenter Station were among
those killed.There is a historial marker for him just north of LIberty,
Casey Co. Ky.


The above Jacob #1 and Leah ( Fry ) Carpenter had the following
children:

George L or F. Carpenter m. Sallie Powell , daughter of Dr. Lindsay and
Margaret (Carpenter)Powell. They went to Tenn. and died there.

John Carpenter b.3-21-1803 d. 10-11-1851
m. Matilida Southerland , daughter of Owen and Mary Southerland. John
and Matilda's children were;
Owen , Mack, and Jacob Young ( Jake ) Carpenter. Jacob Young or Jake b.
1834 d.1910 m. Susan Hannah Rife. They moved to Tx. in 1880 and died
there . Jake and Susan had a son named J. Clay Carpenter.
Owen Carpenter also went to Tx.

David b. 2-9-1805 d. 10-11-1851 m. Lucinda Powell, b.5-12-1810
.d.8-27-1887 daughter of Dr. Lindsay and Margaret ( Carpenter ) Powell.
David and Lucinda children were; Margaret, Sally , Bettie, Carrol, and
Coleman Carpenter.

Jacob #2 Carpenter b.11-18-1806 d.5-5-1869 m. Pasty Jones b. 1816 d.
1877, daughter of John Jones Sr. Their children were; William Fry
Carpenter b. 1-28-1836 d.1-10-1886 m. Jennie K. b.3-2-1853, d.2-14-1922;
David Spillman Carpenter b.1842 d.1912, m. Sophia ? b. 1852 d.. 1927;
John Stell b.1844 d.1917, m. Mattie Peyton b. 1847 d. 1905; Sandy
Tayler Carpenter b.1847 d. 1926. m. Maggie Spears.;
Rdmond P. Carpenter ???; Calvin Coleman Carpenter b.1857 d. 1921 and
Emily Carpenter, died at a young age.

Fry Carpenter never married.

Elizabeth Carpenter b.? d. ? m. Edmond Powell,They had a son named Smith
Powell.

Margaret Carpenter married James Jones.

Christina Carpenter married John Jones.

Rachel Jones,( that married George ( Redface ) Carpenter ), Patsy Jones,
James Jones, and John Jones were brother's and sister's.

It makes one wonder how many double and triple cousins came out of these
marriages.

Jacob # 1 Carpenter 2nd m. 6-10-1822 to Celia
Hamilton; 2 children in this marriage; William Carpenter and Nancy
Carpenter m. Ben Newton Allen.
